About Hasbrouck Heights, NJ Real Estate Market

One of the most peaceful locations in the New York City, Hasbrouck Heights is an inner-ring suburb of the City and a small borough of Bergen County in New Jersey state. This suburb is situated 8 miles away from Upper Manhattan and 10 miles away from Midtown Manhattan.

Spread over 1.53 square miles, Hasbrouck Heights is confined to a few lanes and colonies, where around 12,000 people are living currently in decently-sized New Jersey homes. Hasbrouck Heights borders other boroughs of Bergen County, such as Teterboro, Hackensack, Wood-Ridge, Moonachie and Lodi.

The area which forms the primary part of Hasbrouck Heights right now was erstwhile known as Corona in the mid-1800s. Earlier, it was restricted just around two local railroad stations. To honour the former general manager of New Jersey and New York Railroad, Jacob Dillon Hasbrouck, the place got its name Hasbrouck in 1989. Later on, the borough received the suffix ‘Heights’ to avoid confusion with a community of a similar name in upstate New York.

The final naming of Hasbrouck Heights happened in 1894 under the act of the New Jersey Legislature. The town further expanded by including the portions of Lodi Township, and during the Boroughitis phenomenon, it got the status of a borough under Bergen County.
